Before starting a journey, Muslims are encouraged to remember Allah and recite the Dua for Travel, also known as Safar Ki Dua. Whether you are traveling by car, bus, train or plane, you can recite this dua when beginning your journey.
Dua for Travel in Arabic
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ، وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَىٰ، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ، وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ، وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ
Travel Dua Transliteration
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar.
Subhanalladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrineen, wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqaliboon.
Allahumma inna nas’aluka fi safarina hadhal-birra wat-taqwa, wa minal-‘amali ma tarda. Allahumma hawwin ‘alayna safarana hadha watwi ‘anna bu’dahu. Allahumma Antas-Sahibu fis-safar, wal-khalifatu fil-ahl. Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min wa’tha’is-safar, wa kaabatil-manzar, wa su’il-munqalabi fil-mali wal-ahl.

Allah is the Greatest.
Glory be to Allah who has made this means of transport available to us, although we could not have controlled it ourselves, and surely to our Lord we will return.
O Allah, we ask You for goodness, righteousness and deeds that please You during this journey. Make our journey easy and shorten its distance for us. You are our Companion during travel and the Guardian of our family. We seek Your protection from the hardships of travel and from returning to an unpleasant situation concerning our family or wealth.
Can I Read This Dua While Traveling by Plane?
Yes. The same dua for travel can be recited when traveling by plane, car, train, bus or another means of transport.
